Lauren Alyssa Bierly is a visual artist and arts administrator living and working in New York City. Her artwork has been exhibited at Harlem School of the Arts, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Trestle Art Gallery in New York City; Feldenheimer Gallery in Portland, OR; Emergent Art Space in San Francisco, CA; and Tagore Center in Kolkata, India. Bierly earned an M.A. in Modern Art, Connoisseurship, and History of the Art Market from Christie’s Education, New York (2010), and Bachelor of Architecture and Minor in Art History from Pennsylvania State University (2009). She was a resident artist at Starry Night Residency (2017), Panoply Performance Lab (2016) and Trestle Art Gallery (2015). She joined Incredible Witness collective in 2015 and has spoken on panels about: sensory perception as a vehicle of empathy (Play/Ground, NYU Integrated Digital Media, 2017); synaesthesia (SciArt Panel, Women in Bio, 2017); and non-profit arts management (Art World and Professionalism, Pratt Institute, 2015).
Bierly is Manager of Special Exhibitions and Projects for The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Recent productions include Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between (2017); Masterworks: Unpacking Fashion (2016); and Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology (2016).
